We have big news! As a bonus for all the support that we have received the past few weeks, we are excited to release Gone From Forever, a free introductory adventure for BLACKBIRDS!

For backers who pledged at $25+, you will receive this free 50-page adventure in PDF format around the same time we send the core book PDF out in June 2022.

It is the ninth year of the thirteenth-era of the current age, and the city of Corbel endures an unrelenting military occupation. For the better part of two years, the entrapped population has lingered in dire uncertainty—while the accursed Domini verbally joust with agents of Florent’s Petaled Throne over roasted pheasant and goblets of petal red, their servants carve each other to pieces just out of sight.

As the Festival of Lanterns, the highest of holy days on the Corbellian calendar, fast approaches, so too does a storm unlike any seen in generations. Its black clouds threatening to engulf and drag the City of Reflections into the sea. The Blackbirds, like the city’s peasantry, are stranded, hungry, and desperate to escape before Corbel plunges into chaos. But when they become embroiled in the story of two star-crossed lovers—one, a scion of Corbel’s ruling Domini, and the other, a noble from Florent—the tide of Fate threatens to raise the rotting hulks of the past, laying bare the truth of their love and the dark soul of the city itself.

With cover art by Maxim Kostin and written by BLACKBIRDS creator Ryan Verniere and team, this starting tapestry (an adventure) will take the Blackbirds through Basic Tier. At an estimated 50 pages, it offers a Fateweaver and players a great introduction to the kingdoms of Erebos by establishing key concepts and acting as an important piece in immersing players into their campaigns.

Can you believe it? It’s the final week for our Kickstarter campaign! We sincerely appreciate all of your support over these past three weeks. Bolivian Rosewood Screens

Each Bolivian Rosewood panel is crafted from solid, kiln-dried hardwood and has a hand-inlaid black enamel finish with a gold enameled finish. Each of the four panels measures roughly 12" x 9", large enough to hold a full piece of paper, and oriented in landscape format to allow easy access to your players and table. Each panel is richly detailed with unique elements, with the roots of Yggdrasil reaching out from each panel.

Customized Norns Pillars connect to Yggdrasil’s roots, depicting the Norns: Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld – spinners of Fate providing rhyme and reason to the otherwise neutral flow of Od. Without the Norns, mortals must find their own meaning – a terrifying responsibility. Magnetic metal rods allow full rotation of each screen to fit your table and GM style.

Screens come with a Break-apart Magnetic Design for easy storage next to your BLACKBIRDS RPG rulebook. Twenty-fourembedded magnets on the back of the screen can hold threeincluded Plexiglass Panels for note-taking or steel bearings for posting charts and tables. 10 bearings are included with every screen to pin your papers and notes.

Stretch Goal Unlocked! Degradation Tokens

The entire BLACKBIRDS RPG team is amazed, overwhelmed, and grateful for your support.

This milestone unlocks our next stretch goal:

 Degradation Tokens Unlocked! 

Used to track the condition of weapons, armor, and shields in the game, these two Tokens are being produced by Campaign Coins, with designs by BLACKBIRDS art director Rob Sather. 

The Function of Degradation

Beyond the threats posed by the Oligarchs and their servants, beyond the dangers of war, disease, and famine, there is the very real threat of entropy itself. The slow decay of equipment is called the Wheel, and how badly degraded an item is tracked by Degradation.

Three levels of Degradation exist in BLACKBIRDS: Worn, Frail, and Ruined. Each time a Blackbird garners a Critical Failure on an attack, the weapon they’re wielding suffers one level of Degradation (or two if the attack is a Sublime Failure). Similarly, if a foe garners a Critical Success on an attack against the Blackbird, the Blackbird’s armor and/or shield suffers a level of Degradation (or two for a Sublime Success). Each level of Degradation has both mechanical and monetary effects.

Each Degradation Token will be made of tarnished metal, and, like the Amulet and Fortune tokens, will be packaged up and provided for free to those who Add-on the Campaign Coins amulet. The Degradation tokens are also included in the Player’s Pack, Shipping Friendly Gamer Group, Servant of the Gods, and SUPER PREMIUM SOTG pledges at no additional charge.
